Terms and Conditions for the use of Sequence Data on FMDbase

  1. Data in FMDbase includes unpublished FMDV sequences that should not be disclosed to a third party without the written permission from the laboratory that generated these data.
    1. For the avoidance of doubt, any sequences included in FMDbase without a GenBank Accession number should be considered as unpublished data requiring permission before disclosure. In the event that you wish to use unpublished data please contact fmdbase@pirbright.ac.uk for further information.
  2. Unpublished sequences remain the intellectual property of the laboratory who has generated these data until such time as they are released by the originator into a public access database.
  3. Unpublished FMDV sequences may only be used for academic purposes, for reports or presentations made by users without the express consent of the submitting laboratory provided that:
    1. they do not become refereed publications,
    2. that the sequence data is not revealed to a third party,
    3. that due acknowledgement of the laboratory providing these data is given (refer to the Sequencing Lab field in the database).
  4. Requests to publish these data must be agreed by the laboratory that generated the data including appropriate acknowledgement of, or co-authorship
  5. Each user is responsible for ensuring that the use of data retrieved from FMDbase conforms to their national laws and regulations
  6. The system administrators and partner laboratories within the OIE/FAO FMD Laboratory network do not warrant the completeness or accuracy of the information presented in this database; nor do they commit to ensuring that the website remains available or that the material on the website is kept up-to-date.
  7. Users shall be entirely responsible for ensuring that the use and correct storage of the sequences conforms to this code of practice. The administrators of FMDbase reserve the right to remove users from the private version of the database if these guidelines are not followed.
